Marvin Menezes

Marvin Menezes has devoted 15 years of his career to the Brazilian power industry, both at an energy company and at leading law firms. He has extensive experience across the industry, covering generation from a wide range of sources, transmission, distribution and energy trading. His practice encompasses both advisory work and dispute resolution.

He holds a law degree from UFRJ and postgraduate qualifications in Regulatory Law from FGV and Environmental Law from UCAM. He is a member of the OAB/RJ Special Committee on Electric Power and teaches at IBDE and on FGV’s LL.M. in Infrastructure and Regulatory Law.

Education

Law degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
Postgraduate qualifications in Regulatory Law from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) and in Environmental Law from Faculdade Cândido Mendes.
Marvin began his career in the energy sector in 2005 in the Legal Department of Light in Rio de Janeiro. By 2020, he had completed 15 years of practice dedicated specifically to the Brazilian power industry.
He has a holistic understanding of the business and its technical, regulatory and legal dimensions, with extensive experience spanning generation, transmission, distribution and energy trading.
He advises companies, free and special consumers, energy traders and other power-industry participants in their dealings with the MME, ANEEL, ANP, EPE and ONS, among others.
He advises energy companies on tariff adjustment and review proceedings, as well as on regulatory matters in administrative and judicial proceedings.
His energy-sector experience extends to other infrastructure areas and includes EPC, built-to-suit and BOT contracts, as well as litigation and arbitration, regulatory, civil and environmental matters.
